update...

It has been a while since I truly updated. A lot has happened in the last 2 months.

As you all know, Michael and I will be parents to a little boy in October. We have named him Caleb Michael. We chose Caleb because we both like the name, and also because of it's meaning. Caleb means faithful, which we feel is very important. We chose Michael for a middle name because of Caleb's daddy's name being Michael and because Michael was named after his favorite uncle that died when we were in college. It is so much fun to know that it is a boy. Now we talk about Caleb, and not "the baby" or "it." Here are some pics of the 3-D ultrasound we had May 13th to determine if Caleb was a he or a she. The 1st pic is a 3_d pic of Caleb. He is in the middle of the screen with his arm curved around his head. The 2nd pic is of Caleb's foot. This has become one of our favorites because it is so clear and you can see all 5 toes perfectly!! Enjoy!





The day after we found out that we were having a boy, we had a scare with the pregnancy. Without giving too much detail, I was put on bed rest on Thursday (the 15th) and we went to the doctor. At the doctor, they were worried I was developing something called marginal placenta previa, and they thought my cervix might be dilating. So, they sent me to a specialist Monday morning (the 19th). After 3 ultrasounds, and a doctor's visit they determined that I do not have the things my doctor was concerned about, and that Caleb is doing great. He is measuring right on track and we both are looking good. So, after a week of worrying all is good in the Anderson home. I go back to the regular OB on Tuesday for my 20 week checkup. Michael and I want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers during that week. You have no idea how much we appreciate it! :)

That brings me to my next topic - as of today I am 20 weeks along and 1/2 way done with the pregnancy. That means only about 20 weeks until we get to meet Caleb. We CAN'T WAIT!! It seems like I was just telling people that we were expecting and now I am 1/2 way done. WOW! Some more exciting news...my cousin Michael Kelly and his wife Melinda are expecting their 2nd child October 5th. We found out this week that they are also having a boy, so Caleb will have a cousin the exact same age as him. So neat!

We're having a....

BOY!!!! We are so excited to be having a little guy! His name will be Caleb Michael!! We are already so in love, and can't wait for him to join us! As soon as I figure out how to get the pics on here I will share!!!

The countdown has begun....to many things :)

This week has been nice. It has been Spring Break. Every year Spring Break makes me want summer break to hurry up and come on. This year is no different - actually I think it might be a bit worse. I love teaching, I really do, but this year has truly tested me. Take it this way -- I earn that paycheck! :) 28 days left, but whose counting!! I think the fact that this summer is going to be full new, exciting things, makes me wanting it to be here that much worse. We have an 8 day trip to Hawaii planned for the end of June, and of course we will find out the sex of baby Anderson at the end of May -- OH -- and you can't forget my 26th birthday in July!!! AHH! I can't wait! This summer is going to be amazing....

Michael and I has slowly started to prepare for the baby. Right when we found out we were pregnant, Michael moved his desk and computer out of the "nursery" (I thought this was so sweet). But, other than that, nothing has been done. Well, last night we went in with trash bags in hand and cleaned out the rest of the junk. There is still stuff in there, but now we just have to figure out what to do with all of it. I did take the few things we have been given for the baby into the room, and I hung up the empty hangers. I think Michael thought I was stupid, but I wanted to put the baby's things in the baby's room. :) We are so excited!

One of my sorority sisters/roommates had a baby 2 weeks ago. Yesterday another friend and I took them dinner, and to hang out a little while. It was so amazing to hold Madison, but at the same time it freaked me out a little bit. It occurred me to that it would be me in this position in about 6 months. Wow....

Sign of Life

Since I last posted, our life has been super crazy! Pregnant life is going well...I will be 13 weeks tomorrow, so the first trimester will be over. It is so hard to believe, especially since I don't even feel too much pregnant. I do feel pregnant when I put on my jeans - they are a bit more snug in the waist....so it begins... :)

We went back to the doctor Monday (March 31st), and everything went great. I had lost another 4 pounds (that's 7 1/2 in all). That worried me, but the doctor assured Michael and me that it was OK and normal. She just encouraged me to eat when I could (which is not that often) and to always take my vitamins. I haven't been that sick, just literally I have NO APPETITE. I can't tell you how many to-go boxes I have brought home in the last 13 weeks! Also at the doctor, we heard the heartbeat! That was so amazing. It was a very fast heart rate (160), and sounded nothing like I thought it would. Michael explains it as sounding like someone blowing air through a straw - I guess. :) The doctor said that I looked and was normal, as was Baby Anderson. It was nice to hear such confirming words. I go back April 28th for what they say will be another routine appointment - whatever that is! :) Can you tell I have never done this before!!!!

Other than the baby, life has just been going. I started Spring Break today at 4:01 (ha ha) and Michael is just working like normal. We spent Easter weekend with our families, which was nice. Life is going great for us and can't wait to see what the rest of 2008 holds for us.

Exciting News...

Well, it's official! We are going to be parents! Yup, I am expecting our first child October 11th! We can't believe it!

We have been about to burst since we have known since the beginning of February! We told just our families (parents and siblings) and a few close friends. It wasn't until we went for our first ultrasound at 8 weeks that we told everyone else.

Today I started my 10th week. I have felt pretty good. I have been VERY tired and not very hungry. I have been sick a little, but not much; I can't complain. :)

Here is our first ultrasound picture. This was the most amazing experience our lives! To see the baby that we created and the heartbeat was so awesome! I can compare it to nothing else I have experienced in my life!

7 interesting things about us

We have been tagged by Elizabeth to list 7 interesting things about us. Since this blog is not mine or Michael (we share it), I will list a few interesting things about Michael, a few about me, and a few things about us.

1. We have known each other since 1st grade. We went to school together through elementary, middle and high school. We started dating when I was 15 and Michael was 16. We then went to Georgia Southern together, and the rest is history.

2. Michael becomes interesting in things very easily. Once he was introduced to golf he fell in love with it. He has been introduced to photography, and now he loves that too. (Just ask anyone - he will take your picture if you are standing still OR moving!)

3. Jennifer is the youngest of 3. By youngest, I mean my brother is 15 years older than me and my sister is 13 years older than me. I basically grew up as an only child.

4. We both come from HUGE, close knit families. Michael has 14 first cousins on one side with 8 second cousins. Jennifer has 17 first cousins on one side and 23 (I think) second cousins on the same side. The unique thing about this, is that we have a relationship with all of them. Michael's family has reunions frequently (we are going t Hawaii this June!!) and Jennifer's family has a reunion every July. This has been a tradition in her family since before her mom was born. Jennifer has only missed 1 in her life. Her first reunion was when she was 2 1/2 weeks old.

5. Michael is one of the pickiest eaters on the PLANET! I constantly find myself not telling him what is in things so he will at least try something. He hates vegetables - he will only eat corn and green beans (and that is a stretch!).

6. Jennifer could run a consignment shop/advice center for weddings. In a year and a half, I was in 5 weddings (including my own) and went to many, many more. I consider myself a pro-bridesmaid and wedding attender. Now that everyone is married, I think I will become a pro-baby shower attender. :)

7. We married on April Fools day and everyone thought we were crazy. The truth is, is that I am teacher and that was Spring Break. Since we got married on April Fools day, we did have some jokes played on us. Actually, Michael had some played on him (I think they knew not to mess with me). His groomsmen taped the word "HELP" on the bottom of his shoes for the entire congregation to see when we knelt, and his brother, Grant, pulled my ring out of a Cracker Jack bag. It was hilarious!

Snow....in Georgia?!?!?

First let me start by saying that I have never seen someone get as excited about the CHANCE of snow as Jennifer got last week. She was pumped that it might snow. Of course, being a member "Gloom and Doom" as I have been described, I said it would not snow more than an inch - if any! Well if you combine the two dustings we got, we might have topped an inch....but I doubt it!!

Anyways, Saturday turned out to be a ton of fun. Sometime right around noon or so we headed over to Craig and Kim's to play with Sara and Davis in the snow. What I thought would be a relaxing day whatching kids in the snow turned into an all out assault by 3 adults on an army of kids from the nieghborhood. Craid, a nieghbor of his and I started a snowball fight with what turned out to be about 15 kids (anwyere from 5 to probably 13 years old). I tried to take it easy on the little kids, but the bigger kids were letting us have it...so naturally we let them have it right back.

Now, the best part was watching Jennifer get nailed with one snowball after another. When we got to Craig and Kim's, Jennifer declared that Craig was going to get it. As any younger sister should know, that declaration opened the door for the older brother to let her have it. Within about 2 minutes of being outside, Craig had Jennifer pinned in the snow and she got to taste the snow for the first time in years. Little did she know, that was not the end of it. She was pelted with several snowballs over the next hour or so.

It was a lot of fun, I only wish that we really could have seen the 5" of snow that the "experts" (a term which I use very lightly) said we would get.
